Zoe Ball’s son would ‘go nuts’ if he had to listen to mum on Radio 2

Woody Cook, 22, son of DJ royalty Fatboy Slim, 59, and radio presenter Zoe Ball, 52, has no plans to work on BBC Radio 2 like his famous mum.

The musician has already made a name for himself performing at numerous gigs including Glastonbury Festival and in Ibiza.

Although he is no stranger to radio stations or recording studios, he doesn’t see himself following in the footsteps of his mother.

He recently joined her at Wogan House, admitting to The Mirror it was a “surreal experience”: “Take you your son to work day, it was funny.”

Woody shed light on his future and whether there was a place for him at Radio 2.

He said: “No no, my music style is a bit different, I couldn’t play the stuff they play on primetime slots, not to be rude to anyone who enjoys it, but it’s not my kind of music.

“I feel like I’d go slightly nuts if I had to listen to the same pop stuff that you get a lot of the time there.”

Keen to establish his own path in the music industry, Woody worked hard to land his covetable set at Glasto last summer.

Explaining previously to the Evening Standard that he worked several gigs for free to build his public profile.

He said: “I have never worked harder than I did to get Glastonbury, I worked harder than I did on my exams to get my friends and I there.”

Woody credited his parents for his work ethic.

The DJ added: “No one sees how hard people work behind-the-scenes, how hard both my parents worked to get everything they had and it’s very easy for people to chat s**t when they haven’t seen the full story.”
