Zara McDermott is showcasing her presenting talents in a brand-new BBC Three dating show, however, despite the couples testing their compatibility in an enviable environment, the host insists it doesn’t rival Love Island in any way.

Love In The Flesh follows five couples who have been messaging back and forth online, but finally, see each other face-to-face in a luxurious Greek beach house, but how will they interact without the usual distractions?

Following her exit from the notorious villa in 2018, fans were delighted to see a different side to the reality star, 25, after she shared her personal story in the documentaries Revenge Porn and Uncovering Rape Culture.

And viewers will be surprised by Zara again as she will be acting as the show’s confidante as the daters figure out whether their relationship stands a chance in the real world.

Opening up to Metro.co.uk over her exciting gig, she said: ‘Love In The Flesh exceeded expectations in every single way.

‘It celebrated people from all ethnicities and backgrounds. We had a same-sex couple, bisexual contributors, and it works so seamlessly.’

Aware that fans might find themselves comparing the BBC show to a certain ITV2 hit, Zara stressed that there are minor similarities.

‘It’s an entirely different show to what Love Island is,’ she added.

‘The difference is with a show like Love Island, you don’t know who is going to couple up with who, whereas with my show everyone has spoken beforehand.’

While Zara – who is in a relationship with Made in Chelsea’s Sam Thompson– couldn’t relate to the complexities of online dating, she believes everyone has to ‘kiss a few frogs to find the prince’.

Gushing over her relationship with the reality star, she said: ‘When we [Sam] first started dating he wouldn’t text, he’s more of a phone call kind guy.

‘He wouldn’t text me during the day, but at night, we’ll have a two-hour phone call.

‘So, I had the other end of the spectrum, he didn’t have amazing text chat, but more of an in-person thing. I’m so grateful it was the other way round,’ she added.

The first episode of Love In The Flesh airs on Wednesday March 23 at 10pm on BBC Three.
