Zach Wilson’s dad, Mike, in awe over Aaron Rodgers matchup: ‘Dreams do come true’

Sunday’s game between the Jets and Packers is nothing short of a dream come true for Zach Wilson and his dad, Mike.

Hours before kickoff, the Wilson patriarch took to Twitter, where he detailed how much this weekend’s matchup against Aaron Rodgers and Green Bay means to his family.

“Dreams do come true! I can’t tell you how many times @ZachWilson and I have watched Rogers [sic] on tv or studied his every movement on YouTube,” Mike began.

“Today he gets a chance to play against him. Parents if your child has a dream, embrace it. Sometimes dreams do come true.”

Mike also shared a photo of Wilson, 23, standing beside Rodgers, 38, the league’s reigning MVP.

NFL fans quickly responded to Mike’s touching message, expressing how “proud” the family must be of the Jets’ second-year quarterback.

“So cool. Congrats to Zach, but also to your whole family. I am sure that the word ‘Proud’ doesn’t begin to match your feelings!” the Jets Today fan account tweeted, while another posted, “Imagine how it will feel when Zach gets the win.”

Leading up to Sunday’s game, Wilson said he’s long admired Rodgers, who is in his 18th season in the league.

“As long as I can remember playing football, I was a big fan,” Wilson said. “We didn’t have an NFL team in Utah, so I wouldn’t say I was a Packers fan, but I was just an Aaron Rodgers fan. I grew up watching him. He was the quarterback I tried to replicate and steal things from. I like the way he plays the game.”

Wilson and the Jets (3-2) are coming off a blowout win over the Dolphins last week, when they demolished their divisional rival, 40-17. The Packers (3-2), meanwhile, are looking to bounce back following a stunning 27-22 loss to the Giants in London in Week 5.

Sunday’s game in Green Bay gets underway at 1 p.m.
