Yuzu Nintendo Switch Emulator New Mainline Build Brings Performance Improvements for CPU Bottlenecked Games

A new Yuzu Nintendo Switch emulator mainline build was released today, providing performance improvements for a variety of titles and much more.

Mainline Build 1476 introduces a change to RDTC overhead by 50% which improves the performance of CPU bottlenecked games between 1% and 5%. The update notes, unfortunately, do not specify which games will benefit the most from this change.

The new Yuzu Mainline Build also introduces an option to skip barriers on feedback loops, an option that may fix crashing issues in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom which started happening after a fix for the Ultrahand projection fix was introduced in the emulator on some systems and more. The full update notes can be found below.

Since the release of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom last month, the Yuzu Nintendo Switch emulator was updated multiple times to improve emulation and performance of the latest entry in the series, making it possible to play the game on PC at 4K resolution and 60 frames per second on the proper hardware. Even on Nintendo Switch, however, Tears of the Kingdom is a more than worthy game to play, as highlighted by Nathan in his review.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom sticks closely to the blueprint established by The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, but it’s a richer, more rewarding game in most ways that count, offering a more intricate world, versatile suite of abilities, epic story, and satisfying dungeons. The familiarity of this Hyrule and a handful of frustrating sections keep Tears of the Kingdom from feeling quite as surprising and magical as its predecessor, but make no mistake, the wait has been worth it. While it probably behooves Nintendo to carve out an entirely new Legend next, Link’s latest should fill most fans’ heart meters nicely in the meantime.

The Yuzu Nintendo Switch emulator’s latest mainline build can be downloaded from its official website.
