Youtube Music: Spotify is working on YouTube Music-like feature: What this means for app users – Times of India
There are several situations, like when travelling in mountains or on a flight, where users are unable to connect with the internet at all.Some users usually prepare for such situations and download music but choosing songs to download for offline listening could be an annoying task. Spotify’s new feature will come handy in such situations.
It will automatically save “a mix of your recently played songs for when the vibe is high, but your connection is low,” according to a screenshot shared by Spotify CEO Daniel Ek on Twitter.The CEO, however, did not share any timeline for the availability of the feature. It is to be noted that the audio Swedish audio streaming app already lets users download playlists or albums for offline listening. The feature is also useful in situations if users want to save data.
Reportedly, Spotify appears to be working on the feature since 2020.
Spotify job cuts
The Swedish music streaming platform recently announced another round of job cuts that will impact 200 employees, which makes up nearly 2% of its workforce. In the latest round of layoffs, Spotify’s podcast division is the only section that has been affected.
The company said it is proceeding with a tailored approach optimised for each show and creator. The company has also said that it will support these individuals with “generous severance packages, including extended healthcare coverage and immediate access to outplacement support”.
YouTube Music Offline Mixtape
YouTube Music has been offering a similar feature called Offline Mixtape for a long time now. Along with offline mixtapes, YouTube Music automatically downloads ‘liked’ songs and the ones which are listened to more frequently.
