YouTube ‘DOWN’ – fans moan as Google app ‘not working’ in mystery outage

YOUTUBE users claim they are experiencing issues accessing the popular video sharing platform.

There was a spike in reports from around 9.30am BST on Friday from annoyed fans.

“Why is youtube down now….” one user vented on Twitter.

It’s not clear how widespread the problem is at the moment.

But the current volume of reports suggest it may be a small and isolated incident.

According to the Down Detector site, more than 250 claims were detected online.

The cause is also yet to be confirmed.

A surge in reports quickly dropped off little after the alarm was sounded.

So it may have been a very brief outage that was only noticed by a few.

YouTube is the world’s most popular video sharing site, with an estimated 2.24billion users worldwide.

Approximately 30,000 hours of content is uploaded onto the site every hour.

Google bought YouTube in 2006 for $1.65billion – though it’s estimated to be worth a lot more now.

It comes as YouTube announced that the firm could jump on the NFT bandwagon.

Earlier this year, CEO Susan Wojcicki revealed to YouTube creators that they could soon benefit from the digital tokens.
