IF you’re planning on going to Wales for a summer holiday from England or Scotland then you might be quids in, as trips could soon get cheaper.
The Welsh government is considering reducing school summer holidays from six weeks to three weeks – cutting it in half.

There are no plans to shorten English or Scottish school summer holidays, so they would then be longer than in Wales.
If the Welsh government approves the plans – which would see the same number of holiday weeks as now but spread out over the year – the demand for Wales holidays is expected to shoot up during those three weeks of summer.
However, demand for Wales holidays in the weeks while Welsh kids are at school is likely drop.
Given that supply and demand dictates summer holiday pricing, a number of campsites and hotels could be expected to drop their rates.
English and Scottish families will be able to take advantage of the cheaper prices as they will still be on their summer holidays.
Dan Yates, founder of campsite and holiday park booking website pitchup.com, said it’s likely accommodation prices will rise during the three week Welsh summer holiday, but drop outside of it.
He told Travel Daily News: “Demand will certainly pick up in these three weeks, and prices may rise as accommodation providers try to capitalise on the increase in bookings.
“However, once this three week period settles in, we should see demand more evenly spread during the year, and potentially a reduction in prices during off-peak periods, which could be tempting for Welsh families to book outside the peak season.”
He warned anyone planning on taking a Welsh summer holiday this year to book as soon as possible as accommodation capacity is limited.
He said: “If these government plans do go underway, we predict campsites and caravan parks will book up imminently in readiness for the summer season.
“Hence why we’re urging families to book their summer trips as soon as possible to beat the rush and avoid disappointment.”
Brits with plans to head abroad for a summer holiday this year are warned that flights to Spain, Portugal and Germany face huge delays.
The snarl-up is predicted as the French prepare to launch a new air traffic control system at the beginning of next month.
Coupled with restrictions from the Ukraine crisis, experts say the move will see unprecedented numbers of planes flying over Germany.
This will have a knock on effect on flights from the UK to Spain, Portugal and Italy, causing delays.
The boss of Jet2 has warned holidaymakers to book a trip now – as flight prices will almost certainly go up next year.
