Young Justice: Weisman on Those Wanting LGBTQ Content Removed

|

With the final arc of Greg Weisman and Brandon Vietti‘s Young Justice: Phantoms currently underway, if social media reaction is any indication then the HBO Max animated series could very well be looking at a fifth run (keeping fingers, toes, and other bodily parts crossed just in case). But then you have that small but loud & way-too-whiney faction of “fandom” that apparently love playing the gatekeeper role so much that they push back and push back hard on anything they consider a “change.” And then there are those within that group who just don’t like anyone who isn’t them. Well, Weisman had an idea he wanted to “share” with one of those trolls earlier today. When the creeper hit up Weisman & Vietti earlier today (name protected because they don’t deserve the free press) to suggest that they “strip the LGBT content” from the animated series “because it doesn’t add any value.” And then Captain Sunshine & Sparkles ended it with, “It pollutes the show and alienates some viewers unnecessarily. Great cartoons did fine without that content for decades. Don’t ruin the show!” [Ed Note: losing some viewers is always an easy trade-off if it means more members of the LGBTQ feel represented]. As you can see from the screencap above, Weisman clearly wasn’t interested in listening to any of that nonsense: “How about instead, I strip all straight white male content from the show. We’ve seen plenty of that already, anyway, and I think they may be polluting the show. Don’t ruin my mood.”
