YOU can travel around a European holiday hotspot for less than £1 this summer – but you’ll have to be quick.

Many Brits will be looking for ways to save money on their next break, with most on a much stricter budget due to the cost of living crisis.

But one train operator in France might just have provided the answer to cheap travel this summer.

According to Euronews, Ouigo (a French train operator) has just launched a flash sale – and they’re selling tickets for just €1 (87p).

There are 10,000 tickets to be had but they’re only on sale today, so Brits will need to act fast.

Tickets can be used for travel between May 24, 2023, to July 5, 2023 – perfect if you’re travelling through France this half term.

Brits can book travel to 14 destinations including Paris, Lyon, and Nantes.

Popular routes include train services between Dijon to Paris, Melun to Lyon, and Paris to Chambord – and Sun Online Travel have found cheap tickets to each destination.

Ouigo trains on these routes normally cost between €10 (£8.70) and €49 (£42) – so there are plenty of savings to be had.

Any Brits who want to snap up a bargain ticket will need to head to the Ouigo website.

Before travelling on Ouigo services, passengers will need to familiarise themselves with the operator’s terms of travel.

Like many European train services, customers will need to pay an additional fee if they want to pre-book their seats – especially if they want to be near a power socket.

While no weight restrictions apply, baggage is also limited to one small carry-on size bag.

But France isn’t the only holiday hotspot that’s offering cheap train travel this summer.

Holidaymakers will also be able to travel around Spain without spending a penny.

The Spanish Government recently extended the free train travel scheme until the end of 2023.

And the extension is good news for Brits because these free tickets can be snapped by anyone – including tourists.

To redeem the free tickets, holidaymakers must travel on commuter and medium-distance trains that are operated by Renfe.

The free tickets aren’t valid on high-speed AVE trains that connect popular destinations such as Madrid and Barcelona, but they can be used between multiple cities within regions such as Andalusia.

A new European train will take Brits to Spain without needing to fly.

Brits can reach France, which has been dubbed the world’s most popular holiday destination on the train thank to direct Eurostar services between London and Paris.
