You can stay in a stunning house right on the beach from Hollywood film
MOVIE fans can now stay in a stunning house which featured in a famous Hollywood film for just £60pp a night.
Porthpean House, overlooking St Austell Bay in Cornwall, is owned by Martin Petherick and has been in his family for five generations.
The property was a main location in Richard Curtis’ time-travelling romantic comedy About Time.
The 2013 film follows the life of Tim Lake, played by Domhnal Gleeson, who discovers he can travel in time.
His decision to make his world a better place by getting a girlfriend turns out to not be so easy.
A large portion was filmed at Portloe on the Roseland peninsula, the church at nearby St Michael Penkivel and Porthpean House.
The country home sleeps 21 and features four double rooms, five twin rooms, three single rooms and eight bathrooms.
It also has a drawing room, games room, snug, office, dining room, two kitchens and extensive gardens.
The property description reads: “Sleep with the soothing sound of waves lapping on the shore and potter barefoot through the garden to the beach.”
Prices start at £3,600 during the low season and go up to £13,000 in the summer.
During the mid-season, a week split among 21 people works out at roughly £60 per person.
One fan called Harriet Limb stayed at the house and shared a video on TikTok during her stay.
The footage shows both the inside and outside of the property as Gleeson’s character can be heard saying: “The truth is I now don’t travel back at all, not even for the day.”
And social media users were quick to react to the video, which has received more than 750,000 views and over 130,000 likes.
One said: “Where is this and how do I go?”
Another commented: “If anyone gets married there I would do the photography for free I’m serious hold me to it.”
A third remarked: “Someone get married here.”
A final person quipped: “Fine I’ll rewatch it.”
