Xiaomi’s test partnership for Redmi K50i series smartphones with Reliance Jio has a ‘message’ for buyers – Times of India
Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi India has partnered with telecom service provider Reliance Jio to conduct live 5G network trials for its upcoming smartphone series Redmi K50i. The company said that during the trial, the phone was put through several scenarios to test the capability and performance of the smartphone “yielding positive results”. The trial also assessed the interoperability between Redmi India’s latest technology and Reliance Jio’s 5G network.
According to Redmi, the outcomes of the test will help in making “5G a reality for customers” and create a complete 5G experience. The Redmi K50i will be the first Redmi device to come equipped with 12 5G bands — n1, n3, n5, n7, n8, n20, n28a, n38, n40, n41, n77, n78.
Where was the trial conducted
The brand said that it conducted its 5G trial in an out-of-lab setup and showed high upload and download speeds, when tested for 4K streaming and cloud gaming scenarios requiring high-speed and low latency. Anuj Sharma, chief marketing officer, Xiaomi India, says, ” Redmi India is committed to its philosophy of democratizing technology and making it more accessible to consumers in the country.”
Redmi K50i series
Redmi K50i is set to launch in India on July 20. Xiaomi is bringing back its K series in India after three year. The company launched Xiaomi K20 and Xiaomi K20 Pro smartphones in 2019. The two are the company’s first pop-up smartphones in India.
Redmi K50i is said to be rebranded Redmi Note 11T Pro+ in terms of specs. Xiaomi India has already confirmed the smartphone’s processor is Mediatek Dimensity 8100 chipset. Rumours suggest that the phone will have a 64MP primary camera alongside an 8MP ultrawide and 2MP macro module. It is also likely to be another phone with support for 120W wired fast charging from the company. Xiaomi is also launching Redmi Buds3 Lite at the event.
