The champs have dropped the titles – which they won from Becky Lynch and stand-in Trish Stratus on April 10 – due an injury suffered by Liv on last week’s episode of SmackDown.
This week, it was confirmed the duo have been stripped of the gold with new champions set to be crowned on the May 29 edition of Monday Night Raw.
That match will see Raquel team up with a mystery partner against the duos of Sonya Deville and Chelsea Green, Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler, and Damage CTRL duo Bayley and Iyo Sky.
Raquel has insisted there is no replacing Liv, but it will be intriguing to see who she does enlist to help her cause.
Liv is yet to address the news, besides sharing WWE’s announcement on her social media profiles without offering any additional comment.
Her injury occurred during her and Raquel’s successful title defence against Damage CTRL on SmackDown last week.
Days later, the champs were set to put their gold on the line against Chelsea and Sonya on Raw, but the match was scrapped due to her being hurt, and instead Raquel beat Chelsea in singles action.
Afterwards, she was laid out by returning pair Ronda and Shayna, who actually won a Fatal Four Way WrestleMania Showcase match last month to put themselves in line for a shot at the titles.
The exact length and nature of Liv’s injury is still unknown, but veteran WWE commentator Michael Cole confirmed on air that she will be sidelined for a considerable amount of time.
Fans will now be rallying round her during a tough time, and she’s sure to get a hero’s welcome when she is able to make a comeback.
Night of Champions will air on May 27 at 6pm via the WWE Network.
