WWE superstar Seth Rollins proved his love for wrestling in an intense press conference – and Metro.co.uk got caught in the firing line.
The Visionary was in a jubilant mood as he came out to speak to the media after defeating Matt Riddle during Saturday night’s epic Clash At The Castle event in Cardiff, Wales.
During the Q&A session, Metro.co.uk asked Intercontinental Champion Gunther – a man famed for his no-nonsense approach to wrestling – what he made of the larger than life superstar sat to his right.
‘It wouldn’t be my outfit choice,’ he laughed. ‘But I think the career my colleague has speaks for himself so I think it works for him.’
However, the tone of the tongue-in-cheek question seemed to get under the skin of Rollins, who was quick to interject with a fiery response outlining the sacrifices he continues to make after a glittering 17-year career and counting.
He said: ‘Not to be contentious here, but are you trying to rag on me not taking the industry seriously? Because it’s kind of my life – I’ve kind of dedicated my entire life to it.
‘I have a lot of fun with it but at the end of the day, it is my passion. I dedicate literally every single waking second of eating, sleeping and not raising my kid to this industry.
‘So, just because I look good, don’t mean you’ve gotta be jealous my friend!’
Awkward – but we know all about Rollins’ love for this business, and the way his two-year-old daughter Roux – whom he shares with wife Becky Lynch – continues to inspire his stellar work in the ring.
Speaking exclusively to Metro.co.uk in a much more relaxed setting, he gushed: ‘It’s one of those things – for me, it’s extra inspiring. You wanna work harder to make the kid proud and earn as much of a living as you can to provide for that person.
‘I think she’s been extra inspirational in that way, but at the same time, she’s obviously made me think about things in a safer way.’
