The talented wrestler, who performs as part of WWE’s developmental brand, is embroiled in a storyline rivalry with his real life boss after he angrily confronted him in a press conference following Saturday night’s Vengeance Day event.
Shortly before the show, the Heartbreak Kid – currently serving as Senior Vice President of Talent Development Creative – revealed Waller’s Steel Cage Match with NXT Champion Bron Breakker could only be won via pinfall and submission.
After his loss, Waller burst into the post-show media call and angrily asked Michaels why he’s ‘not the guy’, suggesting he has to ‘be a fan’ to work his way up in NXT.
He asked: ‘Is that how I get to be your guy?’
He was ushered out by Matt Bloom, and Michaels told reporters at the time: ‘There was an incident coming back from gorilla before. Grayson is a bit perturbed with me.
‘It’s been festering down here for a bit, and I absolutely love him. It’s one of those things where – I’ll say this. I worry about saying this stuff because everyone takes it too far, but it’s like where I made the joke about my hair, the good lord punishing me.
‘I always feel like these are the things where it’s me dealing with the kid like the guy I was when I was younger. He’s just upset with me about some things going on here, which we will obviously talk over later.’
He added: ‘He’s the same all the time, he’s not that much different on television than he is in real life, I’ll give him that.’
Grayson later took a shot at ‘corporate Shawn’ on Twitter, and has since addressed his storyline suspension, writing: ‘Definitely has nothing to do with what I said to him at gorilla or my tweet earlier’
In a sarcastic post, he added: ‘I’m really sorry Shawn! Let me back! I promise I’ll take a nice photo with you like the other fans in the locker room #WWENXT #ImSorry’
WWE NXT airs Tuesday nights at 1am on BT Sport 1.
