WWE sneaks cryptic Bray Wyatt reference onto SmackDown despite absence
Bray Wyatt hasn’t been seen on WWE TV for a few weeks, but his presence was still felt on SmackDown.
During Friday night’s show, there was no mention of the former world champion’s recent rivalry with Bobby Lashley, which looks to have been abandoned with just weeks to go until WrestleMania.
Recently, reports emerged claiming Wyatt is on the sidelines due to a ‘physical issue’.
As well as his on-screen absence, he hasn’t appeared in an untelevised match since a victory over LA Knight on February 26.
However, WWE appeared to hide a Wyatt reference in a backstage segment involving Knight himself.
The charismatic superstar was talking to Kayla Braxton as he looked to set his own path for WrestleMania, and over her shoulder a Bray Wyatt logo was visible on a box.
It remains to be seen whether or not there is much significance to the tease, besides keeping the enigmatic star fresh in the mind of finds who picked up on the nod.
There’s also the possibility of WWE visiting Knight and Wyatt as a rivalry, if the latter is ready and able to perform in Hollywood.
When it comes to Bobby Lashley, the All Mighty suggested before last week’s Raw got underway that he is looking for a fresh challenge.
‘I’ve worked too hard to be denied. I will be ready to fight on the biggest stage of them all, #WrestleMania,’ he tweeted. ‘I don’t care who it is, somebody will feel the wrath of the All-Mighty.’
There’s still a chance of Lashley indeed facing Wyatt at the huge showcase over April 1 and 2, but with no developments in a couple of weeks, it appears he is in search of a different matchup.
WWE Raw (Mondays) and SmackDown (Fridays) air at 1am on BT Sport.
