MANILA, Philippines—“Roman Two Belts” no more.

The Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns will no longer carry two title belts every time he appears on television after the company merged the WWE title and the Universal championship into one unified strap.

In Friday Night Smackdown’s most recent episode, company COO Paul “Triple H” Levesque presented Reigns, who was accompanied by Paul Heyman and Solo Sikoa, with a new championship belt that merges the distinction of both titles.

“On behalf of the entire WWE Universe, I would like to congratulate you on surpassing 1,000 days as champion, something that hasn’t been accomplished in WWE in almost 40 years,” Levesque told Reigns. “It truly is epic.”

The strap sports the same look as the now-retired belts, only with a black strap and an all gold front plate of the classic design.

The merging of the belts was done after Reigns accomplished the rare feat of holding a world title (Universal) for more than 1,000 days after winning it in WWE Backlash back in 2020.

Reigns then went on to cop the other major title (WWE Heavyweight) on Wrestlemania 38 in 2022 after defeating Brock Lesnar in the main event.

Reigns’ most recent title defense was back in April when he defeated Cody Rhodes in the main event of Wrestlemania Goes Hollywood.

This is not the first time the company presented a new title this year alone, as it also introduced the new World Heavyweight Championship earlier this month.

Seth Rollins became the inaugural holder of said title after defeating AJ Styles in the opening match of the Night of Champions Premium Live Event last Sunday.

As it stands, Rollins and Reigns are the two world champions of the company with the former headlining Smackdown and the latter leading Monday Night Raw.
