WWE Raw results, grades: Finn Balor ruins Damian Priest cash in on Seth Rollins
There is dissention in The Judgment Day after Damian Priest missed out on a cash-in on WWE Raw.
The Money In The Bank winner has a briefcase guaranteeing him a world title match at any time of his choosing over the next year, but Finn Balor has inadvertently cost him two chances already.
At the beginning of Monday night’s show, Seth Rollins – who was first interrupted by Cody Rhodes, more on that below – found himself in a verbal spat with Priest, Rhea Ripley and Dominik Mysterio, which led to a main event match with the latter.
The first match saw Priest pick up some momentum with a good win over Shinsuke Nakamura.
Just a couple of nights after their involvement in the brutal Money In The Bank Ladder Match, the two stars put on a very entertaining show with Rhea and Dom playing their roles brilliantly at ringside.
Fast forward, Dom and Seth didn’t quite hit the heights of their SummerSlam match a few years ago, but still delivered a strong main event.
The drama came when Priest attacked the Visionary, causing a DQ but then decimating the World Heavyweight Champion, with Dom stopping a comeback by decking the champ with the briefcase.
He tried to cash in but Finn Balor got involved and knocked Seth into Priest, leading to another row between the pair before he hit a Pedigree on Dom and made a swift escape.
Brock Lesnar and Cody Rhodes brawl, Natalya attacks Rhea Ripley and Ricochet calls out Logan Paul
The show opened with Seth Rollins coming to the end as the crowd loudly belted out his entrance music.
After discussing Money In The Bank, he was soon interrupted by Cody Rhodes to an amazing ovation as the American Nightmare was no doubt preparing to lay down a challenge to the Visionary.
He didn’t get a chance though as Brock Lesnar’s music hit, and Cody met him on the ramp, brawling back to the ring as he avoided the F-5 and rocked the Beast with a Cody Cutter.
Ronda Rousey was about to talk when Shayna Baszler interrupted her, and went onto respond to Ronda’s demand for an explanation following her shock attack over the weekend.
The Queen of Spades took credit for the UFC legend’s WWE career, branding her real life friend as entitled and tearing her down until Ronda kicked her off the apron and sparked a brawl, eventually laying out her rival with a running knee.
The latter duo really showed up with Katana’s insane hurricanrana onto Green while she was on Carter’s shoulders on the middle rope standing out.
Becky Lynch called out Zoey Stark and Trish Stratus, mocking the Hall of Famer for her protective face mask after Money In The Bank and keeping their rivalry moving.
In a mixed tag match, Alpha Academy – with Maxxine Dupri – beat The Viking Raiders and Valhalla, with Dupri getting to show her skills and get the win for her team in her first ever match.
Backstage, Ricochet challenged Logan Paul to a face to face confrontation on next week’s show after their exchange at Money In The Bank.
Natalya attacked Rhea Ripley before their match, and the two delivered a fantastic bout as the Women’s World Champion retained, with Liv and Raquel stopping her post match attack.
Matt Riddle was able to beat Giovanni Vinci in a decent bout, and Drew McIntyre saved the Original Bro from Imperium’s assault.
WWE Raw airs Monday nights at 1am on BT Sport 1.
