Trish Stratus laid out Becky Lynch moments after they lost the Women’s Tag Team Championships.

The WWE Hall of Famer stepped in after her best friend Lita was found laid out backstage but ended up taking the pinfall as Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez won the titles in a shock result.

The four stars delivered a highly entertaining bout, albeit one with a couple of moments of miscommunication between the performers, which provided plenty of drama.

It looked like Lynch was going to get the win with a Manhandled Slam, but Liv avoided the loss and soon after rolled up Trish for the win.

It was a great moment for the new champions, marking Rodriguez’s first taste of championship gold in WWE.

However, the real story came after the bell as Trish appeared to be apologising to Lynch for letting her down by losing the match.

The Man tried to comfort her legendary partner, but she made a mistake in turning her back on the five-time Women’s Champion.

Trish laid out Lynch, leaving her lying on the mat as boos rang out from fans in attendance.

Now, questions remain regarding not only Trish’s motivations in attacking her one night only tag team partner, but also whether she was the one behind Lita being taken out backstage.

What does seem likely is a dream match on the horizon between Trish and Lynch, with Backlash early next month seeming like a fitting place for the bout, given that making the story last until SummerSlam feels like a bit of a stretch.

The developments on Monday Night Raw should hopefully serve as a boost for the Women’s Tag Team Title picture too, with new champs who will be set to appear every week rather than as a special attraction.

WWE Raw airs Monday nights at 1am on BT Sport 1.
