WWE fans fuming as LA Knight loses another high profile match
LA Knight might be the name on everyone’s lips, but he lost another massive match this week on WWE SmackDown.
The fan favourite has been getting incredible reactions from crowds all over the world, and people were expecting him to emerge victorious in the United States Title Invitational.
Knight found himself in a Fatal 4 Way this week as he, Cameron Grimes, Sheamus and Rey Mysterio fought for the chance to face Santos Escobar in the finals next week.
However, it was the masked Hall of Famer who got the win, advancing to face his fellow LWO member next week.
The winner of that will go onto face Austin Theory for the United States Championship, and it could be that Escobar gets the gold.
While no one would be disappointed to see that, some fans are upset Knight isn’t the one in that position given the groundswell of support surrounding him in recent months.
It was a similar feeling at Money In The Bank, with fans desperate to see him claim the coveted briefcase before Damian Priest scored something of an upset.
‘LA Knight has no business losing this match,’ ranted one viewer after his loss on SmackDown, with a second person adding: ‘No way they had LA Knight lose after THAT crowd reaction. ????’
Another fan admitted: ‘I’m genuinely trying to trust the process… but literally why is LA Knight losing every match. I’m not understanding this at all.’
Someone else argued: ‘I mean do y’all not hear the crowd reactions? LA Knight fans have every right to be frustrated ????’
Meanwhile, some people are still taking the ‘wait and see’ approach, as they said: ‘The more the booking “holds LA Knight down” the bigger the swell of support for him will be. They know what they’re doing. YEAH!’
That could be a fair outlook, after WWE boss Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque hinted that big plans were on the horizon for Knight despite the losses.
Speaking at a press conference immediately following Money In The Bank earlier this month, he told reporters: ‘I know LA Knight was a massive favourite coming in tonight, continuing that ascent. Great things come to those who wait, right? And I think that rise is just getting started.’
WWE SmackDown airs Friday nights at 1am on TNT Sports 1.
