Kevin Owens saved Sami Zayn from The Bloodline on an emotional and heartbreaking night in Montreal.

The former Honorary Uce had a hometown crowd – and his family – rallying behind him as he battled Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship in the main event of Elimination Chamber.

After a perfect build, the match delivered on the sky high expectations as Zayn built momentum and looked every bit Roman’s equal in a competitive and thrilling bout.

It felt like a special night, with the chants from the capacity crowd, the Tribal Chief showing cracks in his resolve and Sami even sneaking a kiss from his wife on the front row.

There were several moments it seemed like he might actually be the one to dethrone Roman, and he did knock the champ out cold but the referee was also unconscious and unable to make the count.

In the end, Jimmy Uso came down after the replacement ref also went down and unleashed a barrage of superkicks and a huge splash, but it wasn’t enough to take the underdog out of the match.

It looked like Jey might be the one to cost Sami, but he refused to use the steel chair handed to him by Roman, and caught an accidental Helluva Kick which left Sami open to chair shots by the champ leading to the pin.

Kevin Owens made the save after the bell, with Stunners all round (even Paul Heyman wasn’t safe) and sending Jimmy through the announce table with a pop-up powerbomb before Sami rocked Roman with a Helluva Kick and stood tall in front of his hometown crowd.

Logan Paul screws Seth Rollins, Edge and Beth Phoenix get revenge and more

The night started with the Elimination Chamber match to determined who will challenge Bianca Belair for the Raw Women’s Title at WrestleMania 39.

After a slow start with Natalya and Liv Morgan, the action started to pick up as more bodies filled the intimidating structure, with some slightly sloppy moments but some great action as the match rolled on.

Raquel Rodriguez looked dominant and Nikki Cross shone (her dive off the pod was fantastic) but in the end, Asuka made Carmella submit to secure her spot at Mania, setting up blockbuster bout with Belair for the gold.

Brock Lesnar and Bobby Lashley delivered a fun heavyweight scrap from bell to bell, battling each other in a hard hitting bout with both men looking like they could get the win.

In the end, the Beast was struggling to break the Hurt Lock and instead took a DQ loss by booting the All Mighty between the legs.

In the aftermath, he laid out the referee and Lashley with multiple F-5s, sending his rival through the table before dumping ref Chad Patton next to him on the floor.

WWE Hall of Famers Edge and Beth Phoenix at Elimination Chamber 2023

Edge and Beth Phoenix picked up an emotional win over The Judgment Day duo Finn Balor and Rhea Ripley as everyone involved – including Ex-Con Dom Mysterio at ringside – went all out to deliver something special.

This was kept briefer than most of the Rated R Superstar’s matches since his 2020 in-ring return, and it benefited from the fast pace, as the action didn’t let up at any point.

It remains to be seen if Judgment Day will move on or if Finn and Edge will meet in a singles match at Mania, but based on this bout there may be some legs in the feud.

In the men’s Elimination Chamber, Logan Paul cost Seth Rollins in the closing moments as Austin Theory stole the win and retained the United States Champion.

The match was incredible, with Johnny Gargano’s insane huricanrana from the top of a pod and Montez Ford’s superstar-making performance standing out.

WWE Raw (Mondays) and SmackDown (Fridays) air weekly at 1am on BT Sport 1.
