World’s first ultra-realistic robot artist makes vases & cutlery with 3D printer

THE world’s first ultra-realistic robot artist showed off her skills yesterday by drawing plates, bowls and jugs.

Ai-Da, star attraction at the London Design Biennale, also made vases and cutlery with a 3D printer.

Festival organisers hope Ai-Da built in Cornwall with tech from Oxford and Birmingham universities, will demonstrate benefits of AI to the arts.

AI Mind Home’ takes place at Somerset House as part of the London Design Biennale 2023, running from June 1st to 25th.

The exhibition intends to shed light on what AI technologies can bring to the creative and design industries.

We previously revealed how an android dubbed ‘the world’s most expressive robot’ smiles and introduces herself to humans.

Spooky footage shows Ameca, one of the most lifelike robots to date, interacting with people in Dubai’s Museum of the Future.

The hyper-realistic robot, which can smile, blink and move its shoulders, can be heard saying “My name is Ameca” before spelling out her name.

“Have I won the spelling bee?” she jokes.

One of the visitors then asks her if she’s happy to be there to which she responds: “I’m not happy, I do not experience emotions but I can look happy.”

And at some point, she creepily wonders “Oh wait! What if you are the illusion and I am real?”
