Working with Bruno Tonioli can be a bit of a pain, says Alesha Dixon
In a new interview, she admitted the ex-Strictly judge, who is replacing David Walliams on the BGT panel, can be a real pain.
‘He likes to grab my arm, he’s very expressive and passionate,’ Alesha, 44, began. ‘I’ve had a few Bruno bruises on the arms. I bruise like a peach.
‘My nine-year-old daughter said I should put a fake arm on to prank him, so next time he grabs my arm, he thinks he’s pulled my arm off! Producers didn’t get the memo!’
And the mum-of-two won’t be accused of going out on a limb by describing 67-year-old Tonioli as high energy.
‘It’s exhausting… he does not know how to sit still,’ she said. ‘It’s like sitting next to an excitable puppy. I’m not even exaggerating. The first day I was like, “What is happening here?” But, bless him, it’s hard coming into a very established, well-oiled unit.
‘I was mindful to make him very welcome and to give him a good time because he had big shoes to fill and it’s never easy being the newbie.’
That being said, former Mis-Teeq fave Alesha, who is returning to the panel alongside Amanda Holden and Simon Cowell, didn’t appreciate Bruno breaking the ITV show’s rules.
‘He pressed the golden buzzer about 20 seconds into the act and we’re supposed to wait until the end,’ she told Capital Breakfast presenter Roman Kemp.
‘I was furious, because I wanted to press my gold buzzer for the act.’
