Woman shares bizarre foodie creations – including ‘sunbathing’ chicken
A woman has taken TikTok by storm by sharing the bizarre food creations she makes for her sister, Mari.
Some of the interesting meals include dishes such as a ‘sunbathing’ chicken and a skewered mannequin head.
Candice Danae, from Atlanta, first began sharing her creative meals in September 2021 when her first video received more than 7.8 million views.
The siblings, who both work as full-time content creators, now share their incredible plates with the world and social media users are loving it.
One of Candice’s most popular dishes to date is a golden-fried chicken with a side of rice served up with the poultry ‘sitting’ on a chair with a cocktail umbrella to ‘shield from the sun’.
Since being posted, the video has garnered more than 14.4 million views.
Other dishes are served up in toy trucks, treasure chests and even on a rotating carousel.
One particularly interesting meal includes messy chicken hoagie on a skateboard while a toy bridge was used to plate some spicy-looking wings.
On their joint account, the sisters (@mariandcandicee) have racked up 1.6 million followers and more than 70 million likes so far.
‘I had no intentions on that [first] video changing my life,’ Candice told NeedToKnow.online.
‘My journey becoming a content creator was a bit shocking to me.
‘It started my older sister [Mari] began recording me while I was plating her food, and I was a bit annoyed and told her to delete the video.
‘I had no idea she had posted it on TikTok until it popped up on my for you page and was going viral.
‘We have received both love and hate [for the dishes] but we continue the videos as a series.’
The latest video by the pair sees Candice serving kebabs but the presentation is what catches the viewer’s eye.
To serve the kebabs to her older sister, Candice decides to use a mannequin’s head by decorating it with the juicy-looking skewers, which mimic a wig.
With the final preparations done, Candice presents the final dish, served with a side of five dips and false eye lashes.
One viewer wrote: ‘What’s going on over there for real.’
‘What is going on in the House of Commons?,’ added someone else.
While a third quipped: ‘My lashes on a drunk night.’
For the sisters, the attention they have received has been overwhelming.
Despite the amazing response online, the sisters have received some backlash, especially Mari.
‘I use to get a lot of hate and being called lazy because my little sister cooked for me and a lot of people thought it was not normal,’ she explains.
‘But that’s never really the case, people judge behind a screen and don’t really know the full story.
‘I never took it to heart because everyone is entitled to their opinion.’
The sisters have since released a cook book with their mouthwatering recipes.
They hope to continue inspiring people creatively, when it comes to food.
Candice adds: ‘It’s a pretty cool experience, it’s a pretty cool job and we are blessed to be put in this situation.
‘All we can say is we hope we can do this for a long time and to also change the food industry world for good while doing so.’
