Woman rushed to hospital after being hit by London bus in Elephant and Castle

A woman has been rushed to hospital with a serious leg injury after being hit by a bus in South London. Emergency services rushed to the scene on London Road in Elephant and Castle shortly after 3.30pm this afternoon (June 7). Authorities said a woman had been hit by a bus and she was rushed to hospital by paramedics. Her condition is not believed to be life-threatening, and no arrests have been made in connection with the incident.

According to traffic monitoring website Irnix, the A201 London Road remains closed in both directions more than five hours after the crash, with queueing traffic. Meanwhile bus routes 1, 40, 63, 68, 155, 168, 171, 172, 176, 188, 363 and X68 are all affected, and are being diverted.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police told MyLondon : “Officers were called at around 3.35pm on Friday, June 17, to reports of a bus in collision with a pedestrian in London Road, SE1. Officers attended along with London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance.

“The pedestrian – a woman – was taken to hospital suffering a serious leg injury. Her condition is not believed to be life-threatening. The bus stopped at the scene and there has been no arrest.”
