Woman, 43, shares how she got rid of her cellulite after ‘trying everything’

Rachel Kerr, 43, was so “self-conscious” about the cellulite on her legs that she “would never in a million years wear shorts” outside of her house or garden.

She spoke exclusively to Express.co.uk about how she finally got rid of the issue, plus how it has transformed her confidence.

Getting rid of her cellulite was no easy feat, with Rachel telling Express.co.uk that she “literally tried everything and I mean everything”.

Battling cellulite for years, she tried an array of treatments including massage, needling, mesotherapy, creams and fat freezing – but “nothing has worked”.

Mesotherapy brought her very short-term benefits – lasting just two months – but was “exorbitantly expensive” according to Rachel.

Eventually Rachel discovered that Doctor Alex Parys – who administers her botox – also offers a cellulite solution – LanLuma.

Rachel said: “He’s amazing at trying new things but never recommends something he doesn’t think will work.

“I think you get a lot of aesthetics practitioners who will do it for the money but he doesn’t, he’s honest and I really trusted him.”

Rachel said that while the process was a “little painful”, it’s the “only thing that has ever made a difference”.

Rachel has had two sessions, eight weeks apart, but told Express.co.uk that she noticed results after just one week whilst she was on holiday.

She revealed that it has had a transformative effect on her confidence: “I’ve never really worn short shorts or short dresses – I’ve always been self-conscious walking around on holiday.

“But I’m feeling much more confident about it and to be honest, I can’t wait to go on holiday again!”

While Rachel is not “100 percent cellulite free”, LanLuma made a massive difference to the appearance of Rachel’s legs.

She couldn’t recommend the treatment more, stating that she will “get it again until she’s too old to bother wearing shorts”. She reported that it does last around two to three years, however, without a top up.

For those seeking treatment for an insecurity, Rachel advised: “Get someone you trust, read the reviews and get recommendations. Choose a treatment that has worked for other people.”

Dr Alex Parys told Express.co.uk that “Rachel had quite an extensive area of cellulite to the front of her thighs”.

“As cellulite is caused by little bands pulling down on the skin, creating dimples, as well as changes to the fat under the skin and collagen, I needed to address all these in order to achieve the best possible result.

“First, I numbed the area to make the treatment as pain-free as possible, then I performed a technique called subcision, which basically involves sliding a special micro-cannula under the dimples in order to release the little bands pulling down on the skin.

“Once these bands have been released, we then don’t want them reforming for as long as possible! So I then placed a thin layer of LanLuma V under the areas of cellulite, which has the dual function of stimulating collagen to smooth out the dimples and stop the bands reforming as quickly, and also improves skin quality and hydration to achieve an almost “airbrushed” effect in a few months time.”
