WNBA star teammates Alyssa Thomas and DeWanna Bonner are engaged
Alyssa Thomas and DeWanna Bonner are taking their on, and off, court chemistry to the altar.
The Connecticut Sun star forwards announced their engagement Friday on Instagram.
“FOREVER,” Thomas wrote in the post of her proposing on one knee.
“Best. News. Ever. Alyssa Thomas and DeWanna Bonner are ENGAGED.” The Sun said on Twitter, following the news.
The couple went public with their relationship around Valentine’s Day in 2021 after Bonner was traded from Phoenix to Connecticut in 2020.
Bonner, 35, spent the first decade of her career with the Mercury, selected No. 5 overall by the squad in the 2009 WNBA Draft.
Thomas, 31, was drafted No. 4 overall by the Sun and has played there ever since.
She is a four-time All-Star and the league’s all-time triple-doubles leader.
The duo has been the heart and soul of the Connecticut team this season who sit at third place in the WNBA with a 16-6 record.
Thus far, Thomas has averaged 14.8 points, 9.5 rebounds and 8 assists while Bonner is averaging 18.1 points, 5.1 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game.
Cumulatively leading the team in points, rebounds and minutes played, Thomas and Bonner were selected to represent Connecticut in Las Vegas last weekend for the 2023 All-Star Game.
Thomas and Bonner walked the Orange Carpet together before taking the court.
Bonner, a five-time All-Star and two-time champion, shares 6-year-old twins Cali and Demi with former WNBA super power and ex-wife Candice Dupree.
While the couple has much to celebrate at the moment, the Sun will look to keep its focus as the September WNBA playoffs approach.
Connecticut is back in action on Saturday, facing the Atlanta Dream in a matinee game on the road.
