Witness thinks cyclist hit by lorry was attacked after such loud screaming

A person has described ‘a pedestrian screaming’ as they reportedly witnessed a cyclist fall on to the pavement after crashing with a lorry in Tottenham this morning.

The witness claimed on social media that the scream was so intense it sounded as if the pedestrian themselves ‘was being attacked’.

The cyclist, a man aged in his 40s, has been rushed to hospital following the collision that happened at around 7.10am on Thursday (February 3) on the High Road, emergency services have confirmed.

“Cyclist was on the pavement. Lots of screaming from a pedestrian. Thought she was being attacked,” the witness claimed, writing on social media.

The Met Police and London Ambulance Service attended the scene and have reported that the man’s condition is not thought to be life threatening – but he has been rushed to a major trauma centre as a priority.

“We treated a man at the scene for a leg injury and took him to a major trauma centre as a priority,” said the London Ambulance Service.

A bus lane remains closed, where police continue to investigate, and 10 buses are on diversion. There is also still queuing traffic on the A10 High Road Southbound between Tottenham Green East and A504 West Green Road.

The driver stopped at the scene. No arrests have been made, but the Met’s enquiries continue.
