Wimbledon 2022, Day 1, Live Updates: The 135th edition of Wimbledon kicks off on Monday with the likes of Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray and Emma Raducanu being among the stars to watch out for on the opening day. Notably, Roger Federer alongside the top two of men’s singles – Daniil Medvedev and Alexander Zverev – misses the event. On the other hand, Serena Williams will return to Wimbledon for her first Grand Slam in a year after an extended break. It is worth noting that the grass-court event will not carry tennis ranking points this year as a penalty for banning Russian and Belarusian players from competing.

Novak Djokovic wins first round match 6-3, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 against unseeded Soonwoo Kwon.
8:04 PM IST: Djokovic wins third set
Djokovic takes the third set 6-3 and is just one set away from progressing to the second round.
7:36 PM IST: Djokovic drops a set against Soonwoo Kwon
After winning the first set 6-3, to everyone surprise, Djokovic dropped the second set 3-6 and the third set is underway between these two players.
05:43 PM IST: Play Resumes
The action has resumed. While Casper Ruud is leading 4-3 against Ramos-Vinolas in the first set, Ons Jabeur is leading 2-0 against Mariam Bjorklund the first set.

All the ongoing matches have currently been suspended due to rain. Ruud was leading 3-2 in the first set against Ramos-Vinolaswhen the heavens opened up to halt the game.
