Williams gives clue on Garner future with message to Man United youngster

Brandon Williams has potentially dropped a hint on James Garner’s future after the Manchester United youngster won promotion to the Premier League with Nottingham Forest.

Garner helped Forest end their 23-year wait for a return to the Premier League as they beat Huddersfield 1-0 in the Championship play-off final at Wembley. Garner played a huge role in the decisive goal, with his cross being turned into his own net by Levi Colwill.

It caps an impressive season for the midfielder, who is set to return to Old Trafford this summer following his loan spell at the City Ground. Plenty of United fans have already called for the 21-year-old to be given an opportunity under Erik ten Hag next season.

However, United’s midfield overhaul has led to speculation that Garner could be sent back out on loan to ensure he is given regular game-time. Garner has been linked with a temporary move back to Forest next season, while the likes of Southampton and Leeds have also been touted as possible destinations.

That being said, Williams seems to have revealed that a decision has already been made on the midfielder’s future. The defender, who has spent time out on loan with Norwich this season, was among the past and present United players sending their congratulations to Garner as he posted a celebration picture on Instagram.

The midfielder uploaded a picture of himself with the play-off final trophy along with the caption: “Premier League babyyyyyyyyyy!!” In reply, Williams said: “You was already in the prem wherever you lost or won you idiot. Come home.”

Garner will be aiming to catch the eye of Ten Hag this summer as the new United boss begins his reign at Old Trafford. With United looking to add to their midfield options this summer, a decision will have to be made on whether the 21-year-old remains with the club next season or heads back out on loan.
