Why Queen has opted for ‘mystery’ in royal role – unlike Kate Middleton

Since she ascended the throne in 1952, the Queen has remained steadfast in her dedication to her royal role. Duty has come before everything else and aged 95, she is still as committed as ever to her role as head of state. And according to a body language expert, the Queen has always remained “composed in the face of adversity”, despite the challenges she has faced over her long reign.

Speaking on behalf of Betfair Casino, body language expert Darren Stanton said that a “noticeable trait of the Queen is that the emotions she conveys are always genuine”.

He explained: “It struck me that I could not find any footage of the Queen where she has displayed a fake expression/gesture, like a slight laugh or smile, to conceal an awkward moment like most of us do in order to avoid social embarrassment. She is very straight-laced and takes her duty very seriously.

“For instance, she has had to endure many scandals and political unrest over the years, yet she has always remained composed in the face of adversity.

“She has always been keen to interact with the public, never shying away from her duties despite difficult situations unravelling before her and I think this is one of the reasons why the Queen has remained a much-loved figure by the British public.”

But despite her genuine emotion when out in public, the Queen has never been as open as some other members of the Royal Family.

According to Mr Stanton, it is this “mystery” that makes the Queen such a revered figure among the British public.

He added: “Throughout her whole life, the Queen has had to constantly evolve, adapt and embrace change – which has perhaps fuelled her desire to remain unfazed and a constant symbol of reassurance for the public.

“She always displays a confident posture and maintains eye contact, with some celebrities commenting after meeting the Queen that she carries her own force field around with her.

While the Queen has usually dressed formally throughout her reign, Kate and William are known to turn up to engagements in sports gear or jeans for more casual occasions.

And Kate and William are known to be very personable while out and about, often addressing emotional topics within their charitable work.

Although William and Kate’s approach to royal life is different from the Queen’s, according to YouGov, the couple’s style appears to resonate with the public as they are the second and third most popular royals respectively.

While the Queen has a 76 percent popularity rating as of quarter four of 2021, William has a 66 percent rating and Kate is closely behind with 65 percent.
