Why Nothing is not launching its first phone in the US – Times of India
Nothing 1 smartphone will not be available in the US. There have been wide rumours about this, and now its official — Nothing Phone (1) will not be launching in the US. The rumours started after no North American phone carrier was on the list of the supported telecom providers.
In a statement to PCMag, Nothing confirmed that the company is not launching Nothing 1 phone in the US. “While we’d love to bring phone (1) to the entire community around the world, we’re focusing on home markets, including the UK and Europe, where we have strong partnerships with leading local carriers. It takes a lot to launch a smartphone as you know, from ensuring the handset is supported by the country’s cellular technologies to carrier partnerships and local regulation, and as we’re still a young brand we need to be strategic about it,” said Nothing in the statement.
Nothing is set to launch Nothing 1 on July 12. The smartphone will be sold initially via a invite system. This is similar to the startegy OnePlus followed with its inital launches. Nothing CEO Carl Pei was the co-founder of OnePlus. Pei seems to be following OnePlus’ tricks for the devices of his new company. Like OnePlus, Nothing too runs teaser campaigns for its upcoming devices, revealing small bits of information here and there. Nothing 1 phone has been in the news since weeks now. The company has been revealing some detail about the phone almost every few days.
Recently, Nothing released a video about its upcoming phone. The information about the invite system comes almost at the end of the video. Other things revealed on the video about the phone include its design and manufacturing process.
