Why Mila Kunis hates acting with Ashton Kutcher: ‘Like, ‘why are you making that face?’’
Seven years of experience as a real-life married couple might make it easier for some Hollywood duos to act the part, but not Mila Kunis, who co-stars with husband Ashton Kutcher on the upcoming “That ’90s Show” on Netflix.
“It was really hard for me to do. Like, acting with my husband and not being like ‘why are you making that face?’” Kunis, 39, told an audience at the 92nd Street Y after a screening of her new Netflix movie “Luckiest Girl Alive.”
Kunis and Kutcher, 44, co-starred for years starting in the late 1990s on “That 70’s Show,” and he was even her first kiss. They started dating offscreen in 2012, and married in July of 2015.
But after reprising her role as Jackie Burkhart alongside Kutcher’s Michael Kelso, for the forthcoming spinoff, Kunis said she’s no longer interested in working with her husband.
“I respect people that do it. I really do, I think it’s incredible that they can work with their partner. We never work at the same time so that one of us can always be home with the kids,” said Kunis, mom to daughter Wyatt, 7, and son Dimitri, 5.
“Enough people already feel too comfortable to want to hug and talk to you and feel like they have ownership of you; you add this and it’s too much,” she said.
During the conversation, host Josh Horowitz surprised Kunis with a video message from her former “Ted” co-star Mark Wahlberg; later on in the conversation, when asked who she would consider starring alongside in a romantic comedy, Kunis said: “I love Wahlberg. I love Mark.”
Kunis had quite the week in the Big Apple, eliciting a chorus of boos on a Brooklyn taping of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” when she admitted to a New York audience that she “hated pizza.”
