Father’s Day is an annual celebration that allows us to show appreciation for the important father figures in our lives.

We’ve been celebrating fathers for centuries. An annual day set aside for the celebration of fatherhood in Catholic Europe can be traced back as far as the year 1508.

It can be a wonderful day, with gifts, cards, warm wishes and days out – or a hilarious day filled with classic, albeit totally cringeworthy, dad jokes.

For those whose loved ones are no longer with us, Father’s Day may be more about treasured memories and fond remembrance.

Every year, it falls on a different date. So what date is Father’s Day this year?

Here’s all you need to know.

When is Father’s Day 2023?

Father’s Day in the UK and Ireland takes place on Sunday, June 18 2023.

Every year, the big day takes place specifically on the third Sunday in June. So, mark your calendar!

Father’s Day in the UK falls on the same day as in the US and Canada – unlike Mother’s Day, which is celebrated on different dates.

However, it does take place on a different date in Australia and New Zealand.

Down Under, a day devoted to celebrating father figures takes place on the first Sunday of September. This year, it’s September 3.

In China, meanwhile Father’s Day is celebrated on August 8, while it happens on the second Sunday of November in Sweden, Finland, Norway, Iceland and Estonia.

When is Father’s Day 2024?

When it comes to 2024, the special occasion will fall on June 16.

Again, over here Father’s Day always takes place on the third Sunday of June. So, you’ll always know when it’s nearly upon us.
