WhatsApp will allow users to send video messages: Here’s how to use it – Times of India

WhatsApp is busy rolling out new features for an improved user experience. The Meta-owned platform recently rolled out the ability to edit sent messages on Android. Now the instant messaging app is introducing a new feature called video messages on Android and iOS. The feature gives the ability to share short videos of up to 60 seconds on WhatsApp.
According to WABetaInfo, the popular messaging app has started rolling out the video message feature for iOS and Android beta testers. With this feature users will be able to share 60 seconds short videos with their friends and family. In order to access the feature iOS users need to install the update version 23.6.0.73 and Android users have to install version 2.23.8.19.
“The easiest and quickest method to check if the ability to record a video message is enabled for your WhatsApp account is to tap the microphone button within the chat bar in any conversation: in case it turns into a video camera button, you can already record video messages starting today. When you send or receive a video message, you need to enlarge it by tapping on the video once if you want to listen to the audio, as shown in the attached screenshot. Note that you should ask the recipient to update their version of WhatsApp so they can receive your video messages,” mentions the report.
It’s worth noting that video messages are always end-to-end encrypted, ensuring that nobody outside the conversation, not even WhatsApp, can access them. While it is not possible to directly forward video messages through the app, it is still possible to save them by screen recording as they are not sent by using the view once mode.
The feature is presently available in beta and is expected to roll out soon for all the users.
WhatsApp channels now available in India
WhatsApp has recently introduced the Channels feature in India, marking its official launch. With this innovative tool, administrators can send one-way broadcasts to users, comprising text, photos, videos, stickers, and polls. Moreover, WhatsApp is actively working on a searchable directory that will enable users to explore channels aligned with their interests, including hobbies, sports teams, and updates from local officials. This directory aims to enhance user convenience by simplifying the process of finding and following channels of interest. To join a specific WhatsApp Channel, users can effortlessly click on the invite links shared in chats, emails, or posted online.
