WHATSAPP has plans to release a brand new trick that will make using group chats so much better.

The popular app is working on yet another new feature to take groups to a new level.

According to a leaked screenshot, it looks like you will soon be able to choose how long your pin lasts in a group chat.

With this feature, users will have the flexibility to select a specific duration after which the pinned message is automatically unpinned.

It’s a small but potentially significant change for anyone participating in groups on WhatsApp.

For example, details of a timely family event could be pinned up top for all to see in a group with your relatives.

Or it could be used in a work group for colleagues so they’re aware of specific details for a certain period of time.

Pinned messages were first rolled out on Whatsapp in February.

WABetaInfo uncovered an early look of the option.

“With pinned messages, WhatsApp aims to provide users with a tool that allows them to make important information or announcements to stay prominently displayed at the top of a conversation, ensuring that they are easily accessible and not overlooked by other messages,” they wrote.

” In addition, we think that the new message pin duration feature provides people with a convenient way to ensure timely and relevant information stays visible for a desired period.

“Once the set time elapses, the message is automatically unpinned, helping to maintain an organized, up-to-date, and clearer conversation”.

As ever with beta testing, it’s very early days and WhatsApp bosses may decide not to roll it out to the wider public.

If you’re very impatient, signing up to the WhatsApp beta is an easy way to get features first.
