What to expect from today’s ‘host-less’ Globes
The Golden Globes is taking place in unusual fashion today, with no host, red carpet or live audience. So what can we expect?
The 2022 Golden Globes will take place today, but it won’t be the glitzy and glamorous spectacle we know and love.
This year’s event will be without a host, red carpet or a live ceremony, with the winners simply being announced on social media from 10am AEDT.
It’s a spectacular fall from grace from the glory days of Hollywood’s wildest night, which has suffered a mass boycott after revelations the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) – the organisation that governs the event – didn’t have a single black member among its voting body.
It saw a host of celebrities boycott the event last year, before NBC dropped the 2022 Globes from its broadcast for the first time since 1996.
But the show will go on in a smaller capacity, with Nicole Kidman, Lady Gaga, Will Smith and Leonardo DiCaprio among the host of star-studded nominees.
