What to do this weekend: honky-tonk music at the Skylark, lager beers, Torchlight Parade at Winter Park

Jingle beers

Friday-Sunday: Denver’s Bierstadt Lagerhaus, 2875 Blake St., isn’t going anywhere. And if you aren’t either, then head down to the brewery, restaurant and fun center for a variety of Orphan Christmas activities Dec. 23-25 (and yes, that includes Christmas Day).

On Friday, there will be bingo, which is free to play and includes prizes like beer and merchandise. Santa will be on hand. On Saturday, there will be live music from Matt Flaherty and Sam and Dave Randon. “They don’t know very many Xmas songs if any, so we get a sweet little break from all that for a few hours,” the brewery said. And finally, there will be a Christmas Bierhalle Party from 5 to 10 p.m. on Christmas Day with games, music, movies on the big screen, and some lager drinking. Bring cookies to share if you want.

Boogie down

Friday: Kick up your heels one last time – before digging into all those holiday treats – with a triple-decker lineup of local honky-tonk and alt-country luminaries.

Light It Up

Saturday: One of Winter Park Resort’s most beloved holiday traditions, the Torchlight Parade, returns on Christmas Eve. The procession of torch-bearing skiers, snowboarders and snowcats, beginning at 5:30 p.m., will take place on the Larry Sale run this year, so the best viewing will be from Red Chair Plaza and at the base area in front of Larry Sale.

The day at the ski resort will also include other kinds of holiday cheer, including caroling throughout the village, photos with Santa from 1 to 4 p.m., a hot chocolate bar at Bradley’s before the parade, and a fireworks display. Get information at winterparkresort.com.
