What people got ‘totally wrong’ about Latrell
Parramatta Eels star Ryan Matterson has revealed how Latrell Mitchell is coping after the Rabbitohs star received death threats in the fallout of his high shot on Joseph Manu.
Manu had to have surgery on his broken face after Mitchell’s brutal tackle, which earned the South Sydney fullback a six-week suspension, ending his season prematurely.

With Matterson coming back from a three-week suspension for a shoulder charge, he knows exactly what Mitchell is going through.
“It’s one of those things that happens so quick you can’t really do much except say sorry,” Matterson said of the hit that landed him on the sidelines.
“I’ve got a lot of remorse for what I’ve done.”

Matterson isn’t vocal on social media however he said he had checked in on Mitchell and expressed sympathy for the backlash he’s copped.
“I saw Latrell the other day and he was in high spirits,” Matterson said.
“But I don’t think there’s an NRL player out there wanting to actually hurt somebody.
“If people are thinking that well then they’re totally wrong. We want to wear our heart on our sleeves and we want to do the best for the jersey we wear.
“It comes with aggression, it’s a contact sport and something is bound to go wrong.”
