What Jets, Giants might do at linebacker in 2023 NFL Draft

The 2023 NFL Draft kicks off on Thursday, April 27 in Kansas City.

The Jets will head to town with six picks, including No. 13 overall, while the Giants have 10, beginning with No. 25.

The Post’s Paul Schwartz and Brian Costello look at what the two teams may do with their selections when it comes to linebackers:

A glaring hole in the middle of the defense was filled when the Giants signed Bobby Okereke to a four-year deal worth $40 million.

Okereke was a high-level tackler with the Colts and he will make the defensive calls and direct his teammates.

Vet Jarrad Davis was re-signed after impressing the coaching staff in his 2022 late-season audition.

Darrian Beavers was a sixth-round pick last year and he was in line for a starting job before tearing his ACL in the preseason.

It will be interesting to see where Beavers slides in once he is healthy.

This area is not likely to be a priority for the Giants in the draft, but keep an eye on where Drew Sanders (Arkansas), Jack Campbell (Iowa) and Henry To’oTo’o (Alabama) come off the board.

This is a position the Jets could definitely target on Day 2 or 3 of the draft.

They have C.J. Mosley and Quincy Williams as starters at the moment, but they could use a third linebacker after not re-signing Kwon Alexander so far this offseason.

Mosley will be a free agent after 2024 and the Jets need to start thinking about the future.

Washington State’s Daiyan Henley could be a target on Day 2 of the draft.
