Tonight, a new batch of entrepreneurs will try their hand at attempting to secure lucrative offers on Dragons’ Den to kickstart their businesses.

However, they will need to prove themselves in front of the five Dragons first, with Touker Suleyman, Sara Davies, Deborah Meaden, Steven Bartlett and Peter Jones boasting a wide range of expertise across a variety of fields.

While watching the current series of the BBC programme, some viewers have noticed that Deborah’s left arm and hand have been wrapped in a cast.

However, the TV personality’s injury hasn’t held her back in any way in the Den, as she uses her keen attention to detail and no-nonsense manner to distinguish the promising businesses from the non-starters.

In June 2021, Deborah sparked concern when she shared a post on social media from hospital where she was treated for a fractured wrist.

‘I know you know but our #NHS is blooming brilliant. Went in fractured wrist,’ she said on Twitter at the time.

‘Several x rays, manipulation under painkillers with reassuring voice in my ear and I leave with plastercast and wrist on the mend.’

The businesswoman later revealed that she sustained her injury in a horseriding accident.

In response to a tweet from former Dragons’ Den star Kelly Hoppen asking what happen, Deborah replied: ‘I thought I could hope I the steed ide of the mounting block… turns out I couldn’t. Thanks for checking [sic].’

The 63-year-old also thanked fans for being so supportive during her health issues.

‘Can I just say what a warm lovely Twitter you have all been…,’ she wrote.

‘If your wishes could make my wrist mend I’d be fixed overnight thank you all for your loveliness but also for your appreciation of our wonderful #NHS x.’

According to wealth management and luxury lifestyle media brand Spears, it’s believed that Deborah has a net worth of around £40million, as of February this year.

Having joined family holiday park operator Weststar Holidays in 1992, 13 years later, she made a partial exit from the firm when the company was sold for a reported £33m to Phoenix Equity Partners.

She maintained a stake of 23% before it was sold off in 2007, with her share reportedly valued £19million at the time.

The 2007 sale of Weststar Holidays is said to have been worth £83m.

Deborah has been on Dragons’ Den since 2006, joining in the third series upon the departure of entrepreneur Rachel Elnaugh.

In 2013, she took part in Strictly Come Dancing, becoming the fourth celebrity to be eliminated with her professional dance partner Robin Windsor.

Dragons’ Den airs tonight at 8pm on BBC One and is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
