West Indies vs England Women’s T20 World Cup Match Live Updates:West Indies captain Hayley Matthews set the tone for a spirited batting performance in their Women’s T20 World Cup opener against England at Boland Park in Paarl on Saturday. Opening batter Matthews hit 42 off 32 balls, including eight fours, to set the West Indies on their way to a total of 135 for seven on a slow, dry pitch against an England bowling attack which included three spin bowlers. Matthews dominated an opening stand of 47 with fit-again Stafanie Taylor, who made only three. Shemaine Campbelle also batted brightly in making 34 off 37 balls as the England bowlers and fielders had to contend with scorching heat of up to 38C in an afternoon match. Most of the West Indian batters went for their shots and there was some aggressive running between wickets which contributed to two run-outs. Left-arm spinner Sophie Ecclestone was England’s most successful bowler, taking three for 23, with two of her wickets falling in the penultimate over as batters attempted ambitious strokes.
