FURIOUS residents have hit out at being slapped with parking fines, saying it’s because the bays are too small.
A number of locals in Romford, East London, have received fines for parking outside parking space lines.

However, many claim that the spaces are not big enough to fit within the boundaries.
Lee Street, 46, is a tradesman who delivers to the area and questions why he was given a ticket four weeks ago.
The man from Romford said he has been parking on the road for years and gets his van as close as possible to the curb.
He feels that the bays have always been too small and believes wardens have made allowances previously.
Mr Street said: “If the bays aren’t wide enough, how are we to receive deliveries?
“Traffic wardens should exercise common sense when issuing tickets.”
Another resident, Alicia Perfect, also recently received a parking ticket in the area and said minor infractions were costing locals dearly.
Ms Perfect, 20, is now appealing the £30 fine she was hit with after her Toyota Aygo struggled to fit inside a bay, forcing her to park with her wheel sticking out.
She said: “It’s just unfair, especially when you’re paying for your parking.
“I used to go to shops in Collier Row but now I don’t because it’s not worth the risk.”
She claimed that many parking machines in the area do not work, meaning people have been unable to shop locally in fear of being fined for parking incorrectly or for the lack of a ticket.
A Havering Council spokesperson admitted one machine in Collier Row Road is not working, but said two others are.
They added that motorists have the option to pay for tickets online via the RingGo app.
Another resident, Lorna Brockington, took to Facebook to urge the council to listen to locals and take action before repeated fines cripple the high street.
She wrote: “This needs to stop.
“This aggressive ticketing will drive people away from our shops which will ruin some businesses’ footfall.”
Havering Council have said that all parking bays are to normal standards.
A spokesperson for the council said: “We aren’t able to comment on specific cases, however, we can confirm that all parking bays are to the normal standards, and there are three machines within that road and two were working at the time the fines were issued.
“There are also options to pay online via the RingGo app.
“If anyone believes they have received a penalty charge notice in error, they can appeal it online.
“The service respond to appeals within 56 working days.”
Last month, residents in a seaside town say it’s being ruined by the greedy council who are set to hike parking fees by a whopping 300 per cent.
It comes as drivers have been warned that parking under a tree could cost them a £1,000 fine.
