Getting a good night’s sleep is essential to our wellbeing, but how many of us can say we regularly get a solid eight hours?
I certainly can’t, which is why I jumped at the chance to try luxurious wellness and supplement brand Artah’s Sleep Tonic – the wonder product that shoppers are calling ‘life-saving.’
A heady blend of Valerian, Passionflower, California Poppy, Blue Skullcap, this sleep elixir uses natural botanicals that the brand claims will help shoppers drift off, without drowsiness the next day.
‘Took a small dose first time and I was amazed how it worked. Now use it most nights. Does give me a more settled sleep,’ wrote one happy shopper.
Another said: ‘Since using sleep tonic my sleep has improved so much. I used to have real issues getting to sleep especially a week before my period, since using sleep tonic I fall sleep so much easier and don’t wake up in the middle of the night like I was.
‘So glad I have found this it’s changed my sleeping life!’
While a third wrote: ‘This product has been incredible. I’m always wired at night and this helps me relax immediately. No next day drowsiness, even when you take it in the middle of the night.’
With hectic modern life, it can be hard to switch off. Once I’m asleep, I rarely wake up throughout the night, but actually drifting off can prove difficult without the aid of a guided sleep meditation or some kind of podcast.
I’ve toyed with the idea of white noise – or the latest trend, brown noise – but when faced with complete silence, it can sometimes take hours to get to sleep. The Artah Sleep Tonic promises to help you fall asleep more easily, as well as make sure that you sleep through the night.
It’s described by the brand as having ‘a soothing, sedative effect designed to help you switch off and sleep through’.
But does it actually work? I tried the tonic for a week to find out what effect it had on my sleep first hand.
The bottle is sleek and stylish, meaning it looked great on my bedside table. A product being aesthetically pleasing isn’t the be-all and end-all, but for me, it helps me get excited about trying out a new wellness routine.
On the first night of the week-long trial, I took the recommended dose of three drops to see if it had any soothing effects. And I can safely say it did. Falling asleep was noticeably easier, but the next morning, waking up wasn’t easy.
My first point on the product would be that for me it worked better taking the drops earlier in the evening. On the first night, I took them at around 11pm just as I was getting into bed – this meant I did experience some drowsiness the next morning. However, reading through the website’s reviews, some shoppers reported that they didn’t feel any drowsiness, even if they took the drops in the middle of the night.
The next night, I took the drops at 9pm, with the intention being I’d be asleep for 10pm and this worked much better. Within about half an hour I felt drowsy and relaxed, ready to slumber.
I slept all the way through that night and every night taking the drops, bar one when I’d had a few glasses of wine in the evening, which I, sadly, find always disturbs my sleep. Getting back to sleep in that instance did feel a little easier, however.
The formula’s tonic is a natural sedative and anxiolytic, meaning it can reduce anxiety. Anxiety and sleep are so closely interlinked, with the former being a real trigger for disturbed and difficult sleep patterns. I found that taking the drops did help to calm my mind – a definite factor when it comes to drifting off quicker.
I noticed that throughout the week I felt more rested and in better form mentally, the anti-anxiety effects were noticeable – but then again that could also be down to getting more sleep.
Would definitely try this product again.
