Rhodes vs. Reigns historical context
The New York Post reached out to Peter Arriaga Jr., the host of the podcast The Wrestling Caucus, to explain why this main event has such high stakes.
“Since Cody returned to WWE last year, he made it clear he wanted to become the WWE Champion, a title his father, Dusty Rhodes never won,” Arriaga said.
“Also, Roman Reigns has been unbeaten for almost three years so there is a lot on the line in this match.”
Wrestlemania 39 predictions
Once again, The Post turned to Arriaga for his thoughts on how WrestleMania will shake out on April 1-2.
He believes Rhodes “will win and be the first person to defeat Roman Reigns in almost three years (cementing him) as one of the new faces for WWE.”
Other predictions from Arriaga include:
• “I think Edge may defeat Finn Balor in their Hell In A Cell match and probably challenge Cody (Rhodes) over the course of the summer.”
• “Rhea Ripley will defeat Charlotte for the Smackdown women’s championship, making her one of the new top stars in the women’s division.”
