Wayanad to hold CSR conclave to tap funds from corporate for development of aspirational district – Times of India
Wayanad district collector Dr. Renu Raj said that the conclave would see the presentation of 45 development projects before representatives of 25 corporate firms including leading PSU’s of the country.
She said that currently the corporate houses are spending their CSR funds mostly in urban areas and the conclave is an effort to make CSR funds available for a district like Wayanad.
MoUs would be signed with corporates who come forward to support the projects at the conclave itself. Also the details of the projects would be uploaded in a web portal where corporate firms and agencies can examine them and get associated with the project in the future.
She said that the district administration was focusing on health, education, and tribal sectors and the projects in areas including health, nutrition, education and skill development, tribal welfare, agriculture, industry, responsible tourism etc will be presented at the topic.
“We are trying to set up the latest treatment facilities at health centres, mobile health units, smart classrooms in schools, study materials and skill development initiatives, adoption of tribal villages, agriculture entrepreneurship, tourism infrastructure development, among others,” she said.
The district administration had prepared as many as 90 projects for the comprehensive development of the district from the ideas generated from the seven workshops held during the last one and a half months.
State chief secretary Dr. V Venu will provide his message to the conclave to be held at the Taj Wayanad Resorts at Padinjarathara via online on Friday morning.
