WATCH: Kim Chiu teaches Filipino tongue twisters to K-pop group Treasure members
Kim Chiu couldn’t seem to hide her excitement as she interacted with Jaehyuk, Asahi, Jihoon of the K-pop boy group Treasure during their recent visit in the Philippines.
A visibly amazed Chiu admitted that she was starstruck over meeting the members of the boy group for the first time, saying that she’s a fan of the group. The actress also shared that the interview took place moments before their solo concert in the country in April 2023.
“I’m [starstruck] by all of you. I watched all your music videos. I love your music, not just me but all of the Filipinos who are watching this vlog, they all love you. And your song ‘Darari’ is very famous in the Philippines, everyone is doing it. And ‘Hello,’ she told the three members of the group.
The “It’s Showtime” host then asked the group what they love most about the country, to which Asahi said it is the support of their Filipino fans.
“Actually, pumunta kami last time dito para sa K-pop Masterz concert. Pero ngayon, bumalik po kami dahil may major solo concert kami as Treasure. Maraming Filipino fans ang naga-abang and nagsu-support kaya bumalik kami dito sa Manila,” Asahi said in response, according to the video’s subtitles.
(Actually, we went here last time for the K-pop Masterz concert. But now, we returned because Treasure has a major solo concert. Many Filipino fans are waiting and are supportive of this, that’s why we came back to Manila.)
The Treasure members also shared that they know the Filipino words “salamat,” “mabuhay,” and “mahal kita.”
In response, the “My Binondo Girl” star taught a series of tongue twisters to the K-pop idols such as “Bituka, Botika, Butiki,” where Asahi did the best out of his bandmates.
During the interview, Asahi, Jaehyuk, and Jihoon also engaged in a game of “This or That” where they were asked if they were asked to choose between “breakfast or no breakfast,” “pizza or hamburger,” and “black coffee or coffee with cream and sugar,” among other choices.
Chiu is known to be an avid K-pop fan, where she was seen enjoying the concert of female quartet Blackpink in the United States in November 2022, among other events. Her cover of Itzy’s “Swipe” was also noticed by youngest member Yuna on Tiktok.
Originally as a 12-member unit, Treasure was formed through the reality show “YG Treasure Box” before debuting in August 2020. The group is composed of Hyunsuk, Jihoon, Yoshi, Junkyu, Jaehyuk, Asahi, Haruto, Doyoung, Jeongwoo, and Junghwan.
The boy group is best known for their hit songs “Darari,” “Hello,” and “Jikjin.” EDV
