Watch Hoda Kotb sing ‘You’re Still the One’ with Shania Twain during MSG concert
Hoda Kotb is “still the one.”
Shania Twain was havin’ fun last night with the “Today” host as the duo sang a surprise duet to a packed Madison Square Garden.
Kotb attended the “Queen of Me” New York City tour stop to support her longtime friend, and to present her with a newly-certified double diamond platinum record plaque for her 1997 album “Come On Over.” The album will be re-issued on Aug. 25.
But the singer had a surprise up her flowing sleeves — an impromptu duet with a woman she’s “loved for many years.”
“All right, now Hoda after all these years of knowing you, we’re finally going to sing together,” Twain said to Kotb and the crowd.
Kotb, stunned and with a pink bedazzled microphone grasped tightly in her hand, joined Twain in a duet. The singer was on guitar while they both belted a few lines from her 1998 classic, “You’re Still the One.”
“You’re still the one that I love/The only one I dream of/You’re still the one I kiss goodnight,” they sang together while the crowd joined in.
Twain made sure to lend Hotb an outfit to wear on stage, making her look like a country music star next to the best-selling female artist in country music history.
The two embraced each other before Kotb walked off the stage with tears in her eyes. It was a magical moment that “will stay with [Kotb] for a lifetime.”
“It was just so incredibly moving and beautiful. It’s like there are moments you dream about happening and friends you don’t think you’ll ever spend a moment like that with,” she said backstage. “She’s so generous and kind. I don’t even know what to say. I’m touched, I’m moved, and it’s a moment I’ll never forget for as a long as I live.”
