US-based actress-vlogger BB Gandanghari was vacationing in Siargao when she struck a friendship with an unlikely creature — an “aspin” or asong Pinoy, which she said kept her company during her stay.

In a video posted on Instagram, Gandanghari nicknamed the doggo as “Whitie,” which wiggled its tail as it responded to her call.

She described her new furry friend as her new “bestie” and an “angel in disguise” because it would keep her company while she’s having coffee in the morning, and waits for her to come home when she goes out. The dog would also guard her at her doorstep as she sleeps, and would give her an excited smile when she comes out in the morning.

“And look who’s hanging out with me? My bestie here. Malapit na akong ma-attach talaga sa kanya (I am really getting attached to him). This is Whitie. He always guards my room tapos sinasalubong niya ako pag-uwi at heto, (and then he greets me when I come home and here) hanging out, just hanging out with me in the morning while I am having my coffee. And he’s got the most beautiful face,” she said in the video.

“Ang cute niya. ‘Pag tinawag ko ‘yan, ‘Hi, Whitie,’ sasama na ‘yan. Right, Whitie? Ano, what do you wanna do? Just hangout there? Come. Whitey, what are you doing? Say Hi, Whitie,” she added.

However, in the video, the dog momentarily wagged its tail before going away. Gandanghari explained that the aspin was really camera-shy.

“Mahiyain siya. Ito kapag may camera lumalayo (He’s shy. He goes away when there’s a camera around),” she said.

Gandanghari, who is now based in Los Angeles, California to pursue her dream of Hollywood, is already an American citizen. She was in the Philippines since December 2022 for a vacation with family after being away for seven years. EDV
