TikTok user @jobbertok posted the footage to show that you can use both sides of the petrol pump – cutting down on the need to queue.

He revealed: “Most modern petrol stations have pumps with hoses that are designed to reach both sides of the car.”

The poster filmed a sign at the petrol station that reads: “All grades here, please use both sides. Pay at the pump.”

He said on the video: “As you can see at this petrol station, it’s actively encouraging, and unless you’re driving an extra large panel van or an HGV, there’s no reason that you can’t do this and fill up properly without causing traffic jams.”

The video has gone viral on social media with more than 17,000 views and tons of comments – but people were left divided after watching the video.

One said: “The funny thing is I did this yesterday, and people were smirking at me like I was silly for “struggling” to reach the other side.”

Another said: “This practice really annoys me. I will use whatever pump is available despite the fuel filter being on the n/s of my car.”

A third pointed out: “Unbelievable the amount of people that don’t do this.”

This comes after a garage owner claimed that it sells Britain’s cheapest fuel and drivers come from miles around and queue up.

Plus, a financial advisor revealed the three top tips to help drivers save money on fuel.
