The player was sent to hospital to assess the damage before the Ireland team decided to call off the match after liaising with officials.
It’s understood the over physical nature of the contest pushed Irish officials to make the call, with Colombia picking up two yellow cards in the opening 19 minutes.
The match was supposed to be played in front of media, but Colombia denied access and reporters were locked out at the last minute, leaving the match to be played behind closed doors.
The Irish team stayed on the field after the match was called in and trained for the remainder of the session ahead of next week’s World Cup opener with Australia.
“The behind-closed-doors game between the Ireland Women’s National Team and Colombia on Friday evening was ended after 20 minutes of play,” a FAI statement read.
“The game, which was held in Meakin Park, Brisbane, became overly physical and it was decided, following consultation with the match officials, to end the game.
“The Ireland team then underwent a full training session to continue preparations for their opening game in FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023, against Australia in Sydney on July 20.”
